Early last year, the Avon Cosmetics & Beauty Company announced they will be partnering with the United Nations, and famous American actress Reese Witherspoon to put an end to violence against women worldwide. The United Nations Development Fund for Women will be handling many of the coordination duties in multiple countries, while Avon will donate 100% of the profits that come from selling the newly-released Avon Empowerment Necklace.
Witherspoon has long been the ambassador for the Avon Companies worldwide marketing efforts and says, “my hope is this campaign will help provide a day where women everywhere will be empowered to live a day free from violence.” In addition to the Avon Empowerment Necklace, the company will be creating a bracelet, and possibly other jewelry items that will all be part of a larger line of “social justice jewelry.”
