Winston, as we decided to call him, had arrived. I was worse than a little kid before Christmas. It was a really rainy and cold morning but I was prepared. I had a large plastic box with a huge thick towel for my baby. I pulled up in front of the delivery van and there were other people there picking up their own dogs. Initially I saw a pair of French bulldogs and even though I knew what they looked like I had never realized the difference in size compared to English bulldogs. When they brought Winston out, I was floored. Besides being the cutest dog on the planet with a fluffy, wrinkly face, he was three times the size of all the other puppies. I was in love.

I brought him home and just held him in my lap for a while. This sweet, tiny life in my hands. I am mushy at the best of times, at that moment I was positively in tears.

I had never thought of getting an English bulldog until my boyfriend told me about them and I started doing some research and that’s all it took.
