In many sheet metal shops, time is money and any time-consuming manual tasks should be mechanized to increase job throughput if you want to maximize revenue with your current number of employees. If you are cutting sheet metal by hand now, check out the CNC plasma cutter which allows you to design the cut on the computer, and then have the machine automatically cut out the shape with plasma. You will find that these machines are expensive, but cut faster and more precisely for hours at a time than any human worker could ever hope for. The computer skills you will need to develop are not advanced, and you may be able to produce many more parts in the same time at your shop with your current employees.
