Landscaping your front or back yard is a great way to increase the value of your home, but sometimes during the planning of a major landscape we often forget how outdoor lighting can add to that value and beautify a home. Driveway lighting, walkway or path lighting, deck lighting, and even window lighting can make huge difference in your curb appeal.
Driveway lighting can consist of lighting placed on either side of the edge of the driveway. Electrical lighting is more difficult to install, and at times may require the assistance of an electrician, especially if you do not have the proper power source available to your lighting. Solar lights are a great option, as they are very east to install yourself. Another driveway option is the motion triggered spot light, which can be easily installed to the outside of the garage. Either way you choose, driveway lighting makes a beautiful impression, especially when properly placed.
Not only do driveway lights make a nice focal point in the yard, but they also increase safety. Safety is important when it comes to your family and your home. A motion triggered outdoor light that is activated when you pull into the driveway will provide enough light for you to see if there is anyone or anything lurking in the area, or anything sitting in the driveway. While you sleep, these motion triggered lights will turn on at the first sign of movement in your yard. The sudden presence of light can actually startle a would-be criminal or prowler.
When you have completed planning for your landscaping project, be sure that you include some outdoor lighting in your plans. They are an inexpensive way to add many years of beauty and curb appeal, as well as increased value and security to your home.
