I have been making jewelry ever since I was about nine. My mother had bought me a book for Christmas that also had some supplies that came with it. The book has step by step instruction on how to make some rather complicated things. I really enjoyed making them. I also liked to sell these to my class mates at school and felt like I made a lot of money doing it. Today I still enjoy making beaded jewelry. The first thing people say when they see my work is that I should sell it, but one of the things I now know is that it is not worth my time. Instead of doing this I buy wholesale jewelry and sell it, because if I had the kind of mark up on what I make by hand that I do on what I sell, it wouldn’t matter how beautiful it was, people just wouldn’t buy it. Instead I keep the handmade stuff for myself. or give it away as gifts.
