Because of this kitty cat comfort requirement, the purchase of a cat bed is almost mandatory, unless you want him or her to fur up your bed real good next time it sheds.
When choosing cat beds, the most important thing to think about is what kind of fur your cat has, and what climate you live in. Really furry cats already retain a lot of heat, so an overly fluffy cat bed could get quite hot, the same being true for cats in warmer climates. On the other hand short haired cats can really benefit from a fluffy bed, keeping them nice and warm throughout their many, many naps.
