Reducing Credit Card Debt on Your Own

It seems like there are millions of advertisements everywhere you look promising to help you get out of credit card debt. Unfortunately, it is important to be very cautious when dealing with companies that promise to help you get out of debt. There are plenty of people and companies that have no problem taking your money and leaving you in a worse position than you were originally in!

Not all companies are out to rip you off; there are plenty of legitimate agencies that can help you deal with your debt and credit cards if you need the help. However, many people can actually reduce their credit card debt on their own.

The easiest thing you can do is call your credit card company and simply ask for a lower interest rate. If you have good credit and your rates are really high, you will likely qualify for a lower rate. The catch is that you have to call and request it or you will not get it!

Lowering your interest rate can lower your monthly payment, but more importantly, it allows more of your money to go towards credit card debt reduction. In other words, you can be debt free much faster.
